Kamigumi Commences Terminal Operation in the Port of Thilawa, Myanmar
On March 22, 2018, Kamigumi concluded a concession agreement with the Myanmar Port Authority (MPA) for operation of the Port of Thilawa ODA Terminal for a period of 38 years. Subsequently, Kamigumi established Thilawa Multipurpose International Terminal Co., Ltd. (TMIT) to operate the terminal. TMIT commenced business on May 20, 2019 and held an opening ceremony on June 1, 2019.
Through its involvement in the operation of the terminal, Kamigumi will provide wide-ranging logistics services, with a focus on port operation, contributing to the improvement of social infrastructure and economic development in Myanmar. Kamigumi will also seek to build up its network connecting its existing international terminals in the Port of Laem Chabang, Thailand, the Port of Sihanoukville, Cambodia, and the Port of Valencia, Spain as well as its domestic network in Japan to further globalize and expand the terminal's operations.
